One of our favorite kitchen, we’ve seen at IKEA-Sunrise showroom is kind of an apartment kitchen or also a perfect kitchen for a house, where still a bigger table would be needed, if the family is about 4 or more members.
At the first look the kitchen setting looks elegant, contemporary, well chosen in materials, colors and accessories and leaves an impression of a well rounded, stylish kitchen.
Ädel-fronts in Birch, medium brown with Akurum-cabinets has been used, to design an L-shaped kitchen with a wall attached island. This version has a toe kick and stainless steel pulls in different length.
Sitting right there, where the cooking has it’s place is not only a terrific idea, but also practically in terms of short ways and faster accomplishments preparing a meal. The integrated *Ceran cook top allows to serve right from the stove onto plates without any moving and is also meant to hold warm the meal for a while.
Looking a little closer at the particular spot, efficiency is the word, is hitting the target. Imagine you would be the person is in charge of a meal. Besides having to move to the refrigerator, everything else is just on the same place.
Washing, preparing, cooking, serving even set up the table, you don’t have to move at all. Everything is around you and reachable with the length of an arm.
Salt, pepper, olive oil etc. has it’s place on top of the hood. Also a great idea is the wall board at the end of island, where even more space is available for storage and/or decoration using stainless steel shelves *Ekby Mossby.
Pans and pots you will store in the base cabinets right underneath stove, dishes and cutlery in the cabinets beneath and a complete pantry finds space in the tall cabinet.
One thing looks really unusual, are those two windows in the back splash area above the sink cabinet. We have never seen a situation like this. On the other hand, it makes the look complete to have there something. Instead of the windows, we would take tempered glass doors for the wall cabinets above sink cabinet and would choose lighting and glass shelves inside. This will make another great impression for the entire setup.
Also we would like to change the dishwasher to the left hand side of sink cabinet to make this place even more efficient.
The crown on top of the cabinets could have another one or even two layers, to have a more remarkable detail at cabinets end.
We also want to mention the great choice of tiles, which are not sold at IKEA, but nevertheless are very well chosen by IKEA designer Danuta Kilian. We talked to her and she promised to tell the source of tiles if ask for.
